Project Overview
ThermoKey was selected to supply part of the cooling system for a 30 MW data center in central London, UK. This high-demand IT cooling project required not only maximum performance and long-term reliability, but also full compliance with ambitious sustainability targets, including improved energy efficiency and water resource management, in line with the strictest Tier standards for data centers.
Main customer challenges:

Technical Solutions
To meet these requirements, ThermoKey leveraged its strong expertise in data center cooling and delivered a bespoke thermal solution designed specifically for this site.
The system included 11 V-Tower Dry Coolers equipped with the EPS adiabatic system, which increases the heat exchange capacity by cooling the inlet air through evaporative pads, while ensuring hygienic, controlled, and reduced water consumption.
Main Features of the V-Tower Dry Coolers (Model SJGL2090DN5/02Q4EAF(EC)(EPS)S):
- 20 low noise EC fans Ø900mmto maximize energy efficiency while meeting the strict noise level requirements of the surrounding residential area;
- EPS adiabatic system: Evaporative Panel System that boosts performance and efficiency with minimal water consumption;
- Recirculation Tank Kit: complete with tank and pumps, it ensures the water recovery and reuse of the excess water (non-evaporated) from the panels by collecting and recirculating it through the system, thereby reducing overall water consumption (WUE);
- Q4E Electrical panel with integrated controller: electrical panel for EC fans equipped with an internal EC Manager controller, protected by automatic switches. Includes MODBUS RS485 fan control and supports both MASTER mode (with temperature sensors) and SLAVE mode (external signal 0–20mA, 4–20mA, 0–5V, 0–10V).
- ATS panel (Automatic Transfer Switch): ensures zero downtime by switching between primary and backup power source during outages, without requiring manual intervention.
Adiabatic solution: Evaporative Panel System
For this project, ThermoKey supplied units equipped with the EPS adiabatic evaporative panel system, designed to boost cooling capacity with minimal water consumption. The system ensures a homogeneous and adjustable water distribution on the panels, reaching a high saturation level only when ambient conditions require it — maximizing efficiency and reducing utility use.
Fully dismountable for cleaning and maintenance, the EPS solution is certified according to VDI 2047-2 hygienic standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and sustainability for data center cooling applications.
