In the context of growing needs for sustainable energy solutions, ThermoKey collaborated with Enogia, a French company specialized in the design of micro-turbomachinery and ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) systems, to implement a dry cooling solution to enhance heat recovery efficiency in a biogas cogeneration plant.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

To maximize the energy efficiency of a plant composed of three biogas cogeneration engines, Enogia installed a 100 kWe ORC module designed to convert the engines’ residual heat into electricity for local self-consumption.

To enhance performance and ensure optimal functioning of the ORC system, Enogia relied on ThermoKey to design a heat exchange system capable of dissipating approximately 1,350 kW of residual heat.

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS

For this project, ThermoKey supplied a Super Power-J Dry Coolers — a high-efficiency heat exchanger with strong heat dissipation capacity, designed to handle a cooling fluid consisting of water with 30% glycol.

Thanks to its flexible structure and adaptability to different conditions, the supplied V-Type Dry Cooler was equipped with 14 EC fans of 1000 mm diameter. This configuration ensures high thermal performance, reduced electrical consumption, and low noise levels from the fans — a specific requirement due to the residential location of the installation site.

The heat exchanger supplied by ThermoKey was selected for its reliability, configurability, and high performance in managing large thermal loads. The collaboration between ThermoKey and Enogia’s technical teams ensured the efficient integration of the cooling system within the ORC module.
